Welcome to ANZICAThe Australian and New Zealand Infertility Counsellors Association (ANZICA) was originally formed in Canberra in 1989 by a group of 10 infertility counsellors, social workers and psychologists attending the Fertility Society of Australia (FSA) annual meeting. Since it's foundation, the FSA has consulted with ANZICA widely and counsellors are now regarded as integral to infertility treatment and research. At the ANZICA 2005 AGM the motion for ANZICA to formalize its relationship with FSA was proposed and passed giving ANZICA the same status and organizational relationship as the FNA, SIRT and the IVF directors. ANZICA continues to be the largest professional association for infertility counsellors ANZICA continues to fulfil an important role in representing the views of infertility counsellors to the Reproductive Technology Accreditation Committee (RTAC), The Fertility Society of Australia and to Fertility New Zealand. An ANZICA representative has acted as a consultant on psycho-social issues on FSA Council and RTAC has counsellor representation. It is important that counsellors have a voice in the field of Reproductive Technology both as advocates for the clients and for the potential unborn child.
Mission StatementANZICA strives to promote a high standard of counselling for individuals affected by infertility issues. In doing so ANZICA counsellors strive to support and benefit those individuals with whom they work, including the welfare and best interests of any potential unborn child.
